| Low Weald countryside rangers from West Sussex County Council Planning are leading a series of guided walks to bring the area to life.
The Low Weald - which stretches across the middle of West Sussex from Burgess Hill to Pulborough, and north to the Surrey border - is characterised by its lush wet meadows and woodlands. At this time of year the meadows are awash with bluebells, wild garlic and birdsong.
Simon Burnham-Slipper is leading a three mile walk around Daylands organic farm on Sunday (May 14), looking at its history, wildlife and scenery with farmer Derek Crush. Meet at Daylands Farm at 2pm, off the A24 at Dial Post and follow the small lane to Ashurst.
Simon is also up with the birds at West Grinstead on May 24. Join him at 6am to experience the dawn chorus during a gentle two-to-three mile walk. Meet at West Grinstead Old Station, next to the Little Chef on the A272.
Darren Rolfe goes roaming around Pulborough on June 2 in a five mile walk discovering some of the area's fascinating Roman history. Meet at Pulborough Railway Station at 11am.
Call 01403 864001 to book a free place on any of the walks.
These events are included in the County Council's Exploring West Sussex booklet, containing details of 225 walks and cycle rides throughout the county until September.
Exploring West Sussex details are also available on-line. By tapping into the County Council website at www.westsussex.gov.uk, surfers can click on the Environment, Leisure and Tourism section and come to the Guided Walks In West Sussex pages.
